Powering the “Impossible”. Our Microgrid at the Rebelle Rally

Rebelle Rally base camp being powered by Renewable Innovations technology

What does it take to compete in a 2,000-kilometer, eight-day off-road rally with no GPS, no cell phones, and no digital navigation?

Emme Hall recently published, on Ars Technica, a fantastic first-person account detailing the grueling, analog-only challenge of the Rebelle Rally.

The article highlights the incredible skill and focus required to navigate the remote desert with only a map and compass. We are incredibly proud that when competitors returned to basecamp—100 miles from civilization—they were "greeted by the bright lights powered by Renewable Innovations' mobile microgrid."

Emme notes how our solar and hydrogen fuel cell system provided the 750 kWh of power needed for everything from critical navigation planning and live-streaming to hot showers and the camp kitchen.

It's a powerful story about grit and old-school navigation, and we are honored to have been the team providing the clean, reliable energy to make it all possible.
